Welcome! This survey is the beginning of an ongoing research effort to gain information about the community of individuals who engage in consensual, nonexclusive intimate relationships, or who are philosophically open to doing so, regardless of their current relationship configuration. We undertake this effort in order to better understand this community, its beliefs, practices, and desires, as well as its position within the larger mosaic of humanity.

With knowledge comes the ability to better serve this community, to better represent its interests in the public discourse, and to foster understanding, acceptance and nondiscrimination in the broader sphere. We deeply appreciate your willingness to share your information in furtherance of this important pursuit. Please be assured that all responses are confidential. No individually identifying information is collected.

In most cases, the wording of the questions and possible answers is taken directly from the original source. We do this because it affords us the ability to examine the results in comparison to a nationally representative sample. However, this forces us to use rhetoric or terminology some may take issue with. After much thought and discussion, we believe the tradeoff is worth it, and ask that you please put aside any indignation you may feel over the rhetoric and do your best to respond as accurately as you can within the limitations imposed on us. If you do not fit neatly into the categories listed, please just make your best guess, and explain any problematic feedback in the "explanation box" at the end of each section. With this we will know whether to delete your data on that question, or else modify the question in the future.

This is the first segment of what we plan to be a much larger ongoing effort. For the sake of brevity, we have omitted much that we would like to know, and likely much of what might be interesting to the community.
